Directions to Denmarks Aquarium

Denmark's Aquarium is the largest in Denmark and one of Copenhagen´s most popular attractions. Its exhibitions contain a staggering million liters of water altogether, spread over 70 separate aquarium tanks. The largest contains an incredible 85,000 liters of water.

The aquarium was originally opened in 1939 and has undergone a number of transformations since then. Today it exhibits over 300 species of sea creatures from all over the world. Denmark's Aquarium attaches particular importance to producing beautiful and lifelike aquariums. The staff works constantly to maintain the aquariums, creating natural habitats that appeal to creatures on both side of the glass.

There are touch pools where guests can experience a more hands-on approach. Ever wanted to feel the hardness of a giant crab's shell or pet a fish? Now's your chance! These are open every day from 10:30.

A number of themed areas in the aquarium offer visitors sea creatures from all over the world. See what it's like at the depths of the Sea of Japan, or visit the cephalopods, the squids that have been an integral part of the aquarium since its opening 70 years ago

There is a cafe that offers views of the forest and beach where you can refuel in between viewing the incredible array of sea flora and fauna on display.

Children underthe age of three enter for free, kids up to 11 years old cost DKK 55, and adults get into the aquarium for DKK 100.Denmark's Aquarium is located north of Copenhagen.
