Absolutely unreal experience. The food's flavor is not compromised for the innovation, either. Go in with an open mind and be prepared to try things that may make you uncomfortable. It is one of a kind and if youre fortunate enoigh to get a reservation, make sure to take it all in. Also good to go in as blind as you can! (There are more courses than posted photos)
Truly just unbelievable from start to finish. I’ve never had a dinner that struck and enhanced every single sense. It was unforgettable. Our service was outstanding. We did the sommeliers experience and it was magnificent. Everyone was friendly, the food while wild and unimaginable was delicious. It was a pallet mind game and we loved every moment. We now want to come back an experience every yearly theme. We’re from the US and booked this trip just to go to alchemist and it’s a trip we won’t ever forget and hope to recreate again for years to come. You have to try this place, I can’t even put into words how you feel after. It’s remarkable and unlike any dining experience you’ve had before. So worth it.

The Alchemist is not just a restaurant — it’s one of the most ambitious dining experiences in the world, redefining what fine dining actually means. From the moment you step inside, it becomes clear that this is not about a meal; it’s about a fully immersive journey through food, art, and emotion. Set inside a dramatic, industrial space in Copenhagen, the experience unfolds over several hours — often six or more — and is divided into multiple “acts,” much like a theatre performance. Guests move through different environments, culminating in a striking planetarium-style dome where visuals, music, and storytelling surround you as you dine. The menu itself is built around 40–50 “impressions” rather than traditional courses. Each dish is small, precise, and highly conceptual — combining cutting-edge techniques with bold, sometimes provocative ideas. Expect flavours that are both refined and experimental, but also presentations that challenge perception. Some dishes reference global issues like climate change or human behaviour, turning the meal into something deeper than just taste. What truly separates Alchemist is its commitment to storytelling. This is “holistic cuisine” — where food, visuals, sound, and emotion are all integrated into one continuous narrative. You’re not just eating; you’re being guided through an experience designed to provoke thought, curiosity, and even discomfort at times. Despite the theatrical nature, the core of the experience remains firmly rooted in exceptional cooking. The level of precision, creativity, and balance in the dishes ensures that flavour is never sacrificed for concept. It’s this combination — world-class technique paired with artistic vision — that has placed Alchemist consistently among the best restaurants globally. That said, this is not for everyone. The experience is long, intense, and comes at a premium price point (often hundreds of pounds per person). It demands your full attention and is far from a casual night out. But for those willing to embrace it, Alchemist delivers something unforgettable. An unreal experience where fine-dining meets immersive contemporary art. Each of the dishes are not just edible, but an artistic expression of today’s issues around the world. It was the highlight of my CPH trip and I’d love to come back again!
