You’ll find Restaurant Kanalen by the waterfront, next to the Christanshavn canal and surrounded by old pack houses and harbor buildings.
The restaurant is classic and traditional with the interior designed with light furniture, white table cloths and candles, and the white walls covered with paintings from local artists. The enchanting view over the boats in the canal makes it very romantic, especially in the evenings, with all the lights outside reflected in the water.
Restaurant Kanalen is known for its excellent traditional Danish cuisine, inspired by the French and Italian. The restaurant received a Bib Gourmand award from Michelin several years ago, and after a visit here you’ll understand why.
For lunch, you could order Sild, which is local herring prepared and marinated after old recipes collected generations back, or the traditional Danish fish balls with curry sauce. A lunch menu with 3 courses costs 275 DKK.
Roasted North Sea lobster tails with chanterelles, apple and lobster bisque, Guinea hen prepared in two ways with beech hats, spinach and tarragon sauce, and 'Chevre Chaud' - warm goat cheese with salads, olives and sun dried tomatoes are just some of the culinary experiences to choose from for dinner, and it is also possible to order a 3 course vegetarian menu for 300 DKK.
On warm summer days, you can take a seat outside under the sunshades on the terrace, while enjoying the beautiful canal view and the idyllic Christianshavn.
The team behind Restaurant Kanalen recently opened the cellar store “Montes shop”, offering excellent wines imported from the famous and reputable Chilean wine house Montes.
The restaurant accepts most credit cards and there is a surcharge of 4, 75-5,75%.
