Bornholm is a unique Danish island that is rich in nature and produces abundant and delicious crops, fruit and vegetables. The island has a very natural and organic flavor and feels to it, and the residents are experts at getting the most from their island. They show great respect for the care and processing of these vital raw ingredients, and the chefs at Koefoed highly respect that and aim to emulate it. The island of Bornholm is the primary source of inspiration for the food on offer.
Koefoed serves sophisticated and classical Danish cuisine with a modern twist. The food is honest and exquisitely prepared using essential ingredients from the island of Bornholm. Owners Michael and Marie Rønnebæk-Rørth are passionate about the standard of everything about Koefoed, from the ingredients to the presentation to the bright and beautiful environment, and it shows.
The menu changes quite frequently; at least bi-monthly, and with the seasons, but the same high standard is present all year. Lunch offers a number of mouthwatering variations of smørrebrød, from the creamy rooster salad, apples & bacon (DKK 80) to the leg of lamb, tomato relish & salted almonds (DKK 85). In the evening, try dishes like Fried turbot with celery purée, pickled onions and capers marinade for DKK 225, with an irresistible chocolate cake for dessert.
Koefoed is recommended by the Michelin guide, so is an excellent choice as an up market dining venue in central Copenhagen.
