The owners of Halifax, a gourmet burger shop that boasts not one but two locations in central Copenhagen, met in the Canadian city of Halifax in 2004.
The two friends dreamed one day of opening a restaurant back home in Copenhagen, and finally they did, in 2007. Now in Frederiksborggade and Larsbjørnsstræde, Halifax focuses on one thing and one thing only: great burgers!
These are burgers of the highest quality. Everything is made fresh on the premises; including dressings, marinades, salsas and chips; and the staff strive to deliver a truly distinguished burger to your table on time and with a smile.
The whole design ethos, as well as the interiors of the restaurant, is funky and fresh, and at the Frederiksberg location, outdoor seating is available in summer.
The way you order your burger at Halifax is to totally customize it. First, choose the style of burger. There are plenty on offer, like the Copenhagen for DKK 110 that includes lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheddar, home-pickled cucumber and Chipotle, or the America-inspired Lonestar for DKK 115 that comes with a spicy barbecue sauce, crunchy lettuce, tomato and cheese. Then, choose the kind of burger you want. Do you want the regular beef burger, a heavier burger (250 grams for an extra DKK 20) or even chicken or vegetarian. Add your side dish, from home made fries to nachos to a healthy salad. Finally, there are five home-made dips to choose from.
For anyone despairing that the art of the hamburger has been killed by fast food, stop in at one of Halifax's gourmet burger restaurants in central Copenhagen for a solid argument to the contrary.
