What a place!! What a wonderful experience. After a week of meeing with friends, the last few had an overnight stay in Kopenhagen and went to Oranje for dinner. Great choice! The food was an experience - take the cheese platter! Take five! Enjoy! After this scrumptious starter, we had delicious main courses, wonderful exchanges with the staff, great drinks (the Negroni was really really good) - so we enjoyed ourselves and the experience very much. As you are sitting on a boat - bring a wrap, even when sitting on the top deck. But that one is on you (me), not the restaurant...
This restaurant was right across from our hotel which made us worried it would be a tourist trap with mediocre food but after reading the reviews we decided to make a reservation and try it. We are glad we did. The service was great, the top deck of the boat was a great place to eat and observe and the food was phenomenal. The drinks were really good too!
On my first visit to Nyhavn, I kept walking past this place and was so intrigued by the atmosphere and concept. I finally decided to get a reservation (I'm a solo traveller). The atmosphere and ambience was fantastic, and the service was very good. I ordered the white fish with potatoes, and the fish was very overcooked and oversalted, it actually looked like a rock on the plate. I am always willing to pay $$$$ for high quality food, but this was $$$$ for subpar quality food. This place has so much going for it, do better on the food quality!
Overall around 3-4 stars. The food was nice. I really liked the pearl barley (hard to find and takes long to cook at home) but the pumpkin soup was too spicy and the flavor got lost. The setting is fun. You eat on a boat which is a nice touch. Service was average, not bad but quite indifferent. One downside: early bird's menu listed langoustines as the main (I have a screenshot) but we were told it was a mistake and got white fish instead. That felt misleading especially since it was one of the reasons we chose the place.
We came here just for a drink. There was very little space between the tables, which made it feel quite cramped. We were told that the table was reserved and that we had to leave after 45 minutes, but a few minutes later other tables were empty. That didn’t feel very nice. The drink was good and the atmosphere was pleasant though, as the interior has a nice vibe.
