Description
Hike along Stevns Klint with a local guide, that will tell you all the amazing stories about the several attractions on the path. The guide adapts the tour's content depending on whether you are adults or a family with children. Stevns Klint is one hour away from Copenhagen by car. Your local guide Anne will meet up with you in Højerup. First you will learn about why Stevns Klint is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Anne will enthusiastically tell you about the gigantic asteroid that wiped out about 2/3 of Earth’s animals and plants – including the dinosaurs. It is 66 million years ago, but the remains of the asteroid can be found in the fish clay – a small, dark layer of clay in Stevns Klint. More dramatic events has taken place by Stevns Klint, which the partially ruined Højerup Old Church testifies. The choir of the church has fallen off the cliff – as well as parts of the graveyard. Anne will tell you about how the event was a major attraction back in 1928. Today you can enjoy a spectacular view of the church on the edge of the the cliff. The choir is replaced by an observation deck where many couples choose to get married having the old church, cliff, sea and sky as a beautiful setting for the occasion. Hereafter we hike to Stevns Lighthouse. It is an easy 1,5 kilometer hike on slightly uneven terrain. You can climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse, where you will have a great panoramic view. Anne will tell you about the lighthouse and the people, who has worked there. We hike back to Højerup and the guide will let you experience the quietude on the stomping trail. Back in Højerup the guide will tell you abut how the peninsula of Stevns has been inhabited by vikings. You will hear about the dramatic rescue of a local viking, who was about to drown as his ship went down. Maybe he stayed alive with the help of God? We finish where we startet i Højerup. It is the guides experience that the stories about Stevns Klint only catch children when they are a certain age. It will be different for child to child, but from approx. 5-6 years. There are many things to experience in the area of Stevns Peninsula. If you like, the guide will give you good advice on what you can experience and where you can eat.Includes
