It is a very spacious and airy beach. You can easily reach it by metro. We had been told it would be crowded since it was peak season; however, compared to peak-season beaches in Türkiye, it was practically empty. In mid-July, the seawater temperature was literally "ice-cold." We didn't see any showers or changing cabins. There is a snack bar and a restroom.
Great swimming, walking, running, and biking area. Many small rest stops to enjoy an ice cream or coffee. Beautiful large fields for dog to run on. Great!
Beautiful walkable stretch of beach which is easily accessed by bike from downtown. So fun to people watch and enjoy a sunny day among the sand dunes.
If you want a real “beach day” without leaving the city, Amager Strandpark is one of Copenhagen’s best spots. It’s huge, clean, and has a great mix of chill and active vibes. What makes it special is that it feels like two beaches in one: a calm lagoon area that’s perfect for relaxed swimming, and a more open seaside stretch with dunes that feels more like a classic coast. What I loved • Space, even on busy days: It’s long and wide enough that you can usually find your own spot. • Great views and atmosphere: On a clear day you get that open-water feeling, plus a really nice skyline/bridge horizon. • Perfect for activity: Ideal if you like mixing swimming with a walk, a run, cycling, beach volleyball, or watersports. • Easy to reach: Super convenient by metro or bike, so it works even for a quick afternoon visit. What to keep in mind • Wind can be strong, especially on the seaside part—bring an extra layer. • Water temperature outside summer can be pretty cold (very Copenhagen). Facilities You’ll find paths, toilets and small kiosks around the area, so it’s generally comfortable for a few hours (or a full day). Best time to go • Summer evenings for the sunset walk and relaxed beach energy. • Sunny spring days for a walk or bike ride even if you don’t swim.
