Description
During the workshop you will get to know this longstanding printmaking craft which was practiced in Japan already 1000 years ago. And much later, with the help of travellers it finally reached Europe. Marbled papers are still used to decorate precious documents, album covers, endpapers and furniture. It is a painting technique on water solution, which is beforehand prepared by mixing in carrageenan powder. You place a sheet of paper on top and lift it up to reveal the imprinted image. Every piece of marbled paper comes differently that is why it is such a unique type of printmaking. It explores the chance to create unpredictable new patterns. During the workshop you will get to know traditional tools, the gestures that are applied to create different paint movements and how different colours play with each other. You will be able to make your own prints and bring them home with you. After the workshop while the papers are drying, you will be served tea and coffee. Workshop takes place in Griffenfeldsgade 27, Nørrebro inside the artist bookstore called 'BLADR'. Small groups of 2-3 or single individuals are welcome. Duration ~2 hours.
