Description

Step back in time and follow in the footsteps of the 'night men' through old Copenhagen. Discover a side of Danish history that has been forgotten for many years. Learn about the night men's macabre daily tasks and fierce power struggles with the other inhabitants. For 300 years, the night men made up the absolute bottom of Danish society. They were born to carry out work that no respectable citizens or poor people would touch – such as dismembering executed criminals, emptying latrines, and removing carcasses. The night men and their families developed into a parallel society that operated by its own rules and developed its own language. The story of the night men is a tale of a group's ostracism, their thirst for revenge, powerlessness, helplessness, and pride.
