Le Klint
Copenhagen
Le Klint´s hand-pleated lampshades offer a unique combination of artistry, design, history, and quality. Established in 1943, the company continues to present bold new designs – each destined to become a classic.
It is said that necessity is the mother of innovation. So it was with the first Le Klint lampshade. The LE KLINT -1 would never have seen the light of day if the architect, P.V. Jensen Klint has not in the early 1900 created a stone-ware oil lamp that needed an appropriate shade. In 1943, one of his sons Tage Klint founded the family business, continuing in his father´s footsteps by contributing several designs that are still part of the range offered today.
1944 saw “The Lantern” created, which continues to be one of the most popular lamps they make. The designer, Kaare Klint, a highly respected architect and designer has made considerable contributions to modern Danish furniture production.
Over the years, numerous well reputed designers and architects have designed shades and lamps for Le Klint. Their innovative ideas come to life due to the incredible skill of the craftsmen who hand-pleat the designs.
Le Klint lamps and shades are available throughout Denmark but head to the flagship store in Copenhagen for the largest collection.
