Gubi is a family-owned company with a long history dating back to 1967 when it was founded by Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen and taken over by son Jacob Gubi in 2001.
Gubi's design philosophy is all about innovation. Each new product they make has to be carefully considered; how it relates to the environment, the materials used, the needs it answers. It is of utmost importance, then, for Gubi's products to fulfil a function, while remaining technically and aesthetically innovative.
From quaint beginnings, with the founders borrowing money to buy materials in order to paint cookie tins in bright colours, Gubi has grown to be a worldwide brand.
Gubi now works with a number of world-class designers, including Poul Christiansen, whose Gubi Chair has been included into the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The Gubi range features stools, chairs, tables, storage and lighting.
Gubi designed items have been commissioned for a number of high-profile projects including decking out an entire airport in Gubi chairs. Gubi's furniture also features in Aquavit, one of New York City's finest restaurants.
