Natraj is a classic Indian restaurant located on the corners of Elmegade og Birkegade in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen.
The front is somewhat unremarkable, but inside there is a warm and cozy Indian restaurant with seating for up to 40. You'll find favorable reviews of the restaurant hung up in the window, and the pride and joy inside: a Curry Master Diploma, presumably from some kind of governing body in India.
The atmosphere is friendly and homely with customers talking as they chomp on pieces of naan bread. The subdued atmosphere gets livelier when the sizzling and spicy dishes are served, though.
Natraj offers diners great Indian cuisine and excellent value for money. Most main courses cost around DKK 70. You can also order a special three-dish deal for just DKK 140.
Natraj specializes in cooking chicken, lamb and vegetarian dishes the Indian way, but also offers beef, seafood, etc. The lamb curries with tomatoes, almonds and butter, or the lamb masala kharas--a spicy ginger curry--are very popular.
A side order of Indian bread -- naan, poppadums, etc. is essential for dipping into your sauces... or your partner's!
