Directions to Il Senso
Situated on Gothersgade in the centre of Copenhagen - and directly opposite King's Garden, Il Senso is an excellent place to relax and soak up the Italian atmosphere. The interior is stylishly designed and comfortably furnished with rustic wooden tables and leather backed chairs, with walls ornamented with Italian art and wine bottles.
Il Senso offers a teasing selection of snacks to choose before deciding from a mouth watering selection of Antipasti for this smart relaxed traditional Italian wine bar has to offer. The swordfish Carpaccio is served with fresh lime sauce, and extra virgin olive oil, accompanied by freshly baked bread, at DKK89. Insalate Caprese is available for DKK 89, a classic mix of buffalo mozzarella, basil and fresh Italian tomatoes.
The main course though is limited but reasonably priced for this eatery. The Cosciotto di cinghiale arrosto at DKK169 is well worth a try if you enjoy the flavor of wild boar sirloin served with rustic tasteful glazed root vegetables and crispy fresh herbs accompanied with freshly baked bread is a bonus. The pasta option is cannelloni, stuffed with braised oxtail and vegetables, in an original and exotic deviation from the norm.
For a taste of regional Italian cheeses the Formaggi misti at DKK119 is a good choice. To round off the meal the small but tempting desserts are worth a try with a glass of Moscato d'Asti. The excellent and unobtrusive service and its excellent wines by the glass on offer are not to be missed. An extensive wine list has been created to supplement all of the flavors of Italy from this fine menu, all to be enjoyed in a rustic, homely environment.
The attentive and well educated service help provide a terrific dining experience. Il Senso stands well amongst the rest of Copenhagen’s Italian dining options.
