Ad Libitum

Right in the heart of Copenhagen lies a large restaurant, bar and cafe with a special concept. Ad Libitum restaurant, in the city hall square (Rådhuspladsen), offers a unique system of drinking and dining.

You pay a set fee per hour, and eat and drink as much as you like. The price varies depending on the time of day and which day of the week it is, and at weekends you must book two hours. What it means in simple terms is that Ad Libitum is a restaurant to get together with friends and eat and drink to your heart's content.

At Ad Libitum, you can enjoy typical cafe / restaurant dishes such as burgers, salads, meats, fish and pastas--and you can have as much as you like! If your appetite isn't so huge, you can enjoy the dishes a la carte, with no time limit, like a regular cafe or restaurant. You'll also be given a glass that you can get filled at the bar any time you want.

The location of Ad Libitum is perfect for exploring the centre of Copenhagen. It is very close to Tivoli, the town hall square, Strøget, the central train station, and various hotels, theatres and museums.

The restaurant, bar and café is spread over two floors with enough space for 300 guests, making it a popular place for large groups and parties. During from spring to autumn, Ad Libitum offers outdoor seating, and there is entertainment on the weekends all year round. Recently under new ownership, Ad Libitum now proudly boasts higher quality buffet food and brand new dishes on the a la carte menu, as well as a renovation and modernization of the interior.

Make sure that you keep an eye on the clock though as if you go over your allotted time, you will be charged for the next hour. The buffet service continues until 23:00, at which point Ad Libitum offers night entertainment: drinks, dancing and karaoke.

Prices are as follows:

Brunch and Lunch buffet per person:

Price: Eat for DKK 59 and drink for 40 DKK the first hour.

The next hour buffet and beverages for only 40 DKK.

Children under 10 years buffet and soft drinks 45 DKK.

Weekdays: From 11:00 - 16:00 - Weekends from 10am till 4pm.

Evening Buffet per person:

Price: Eat for DKK 109 and drink for DKK 45 the first hour.

The next hour buffet and beverages for only 45 DKK.

Period: Sunday till Thursday 17:00 - 22:00.

Weekend buffet pr. person:

Price: Two hours eat and drink DKK 229.

Next hour only DKK 115.

Period: Friday and Saturday from 17:00 - 23:00
