Loved this bar. Tucked away yet close to many tourist areas, this had the feel of a local bar with loads of character and an extensive choice of beers. Great burgers from Fattys are a must have!

Coming from across the big water to Copenhagen for the first time. This is a great feel of home. The bier is very good, and the Dark and stormy was good also. The po boy and bacon cheeseburger are excellent. The fries have great crisp and flavor . For sure coming back.

Bootleggers hits you first with a kind of rugged, relaxed charm. The décor leans industrial—exposed brick, dim lighting, metal and wood—with just enough warmth that you feel welcome rather than overwhelmed. It’s split over multiple levels, which gives it different vibes. There’s outside seating too, with heaters in the winter and umbrellas in the summer. Their beer selection is substantial and diverse: local Copenhagen/Denmark brews, European imports, a range from pilsners to IPAs to stouts. If you’re into craft beer, there’s plenty on tap. While Bootleggers is first and foremost a beer bar, they do serve food burgers and fries and the links. It’s easily the best burger I’ve had outside of the US, which is really saying something. If you’re hungry for something lighter or more elaborate, though, Bootleggers isn’t the place you go for fine dining. It’s more about satisfying comfort food to go with your drink. Craft beer tends to come at a premium, and Bootleggers is no exception. It’s not the cheapest bar in Copenhagen, by any means. However the drink quality, ambience, and variety justify the cost; especially since part of what you’re also paying for is the vibe, atmosphere, and experience. If you’re a beer lover or just someone who appreciates a casual, well designed bar where you can linger, chat, try different beers, or meet with friends, Bootleggers Islands Brygge is absolutely worth a stop. It may not be perfect for a quiet date night or for gourmet food, but for its intended style of craft beers, good burgers, relaxed social energy it succeeds handily. If I were you, I’d go in the early evening on a weekday, grab a seat outside (weather permitting), try a couple of local beers, maybe a burger, and soak up the space. Highly recommend.
