Jazz House

Copenhagen

Clubs

The Copenhagen Jazz House claims to be Denmark's best jazz house. They focus on presenting high quality domestic and international jazz acts. Jazz house has an interesting way of delineating between musical tastes and genres, and has split its club into 10 profiles:

Swing Pigalle

For those who love swing music, from 'the golden era'. Toe-tapping, hip shaking swing played by an in-house band and various high profile guests. Magicians and tap dancers work through the crowd, and absinthe is served... a real throwback to the early 20th century.

Blip!

A fusion of electronic music and instruments with the tempos and standards of jazz.

International Jazz

Self explanatory; international guest performers playing high class jazz.

Relate

Copenhagen Jazz House's more experimental side.

JazzNpoetry

A combination of poetry, jazz and visuals.

GreenHouse

Taking some of Denmark's most talented young jazz musicians, Jazz House gives them a platform to show their skill and make a name for themselves.

JazzAspect

Some of Denmark and the world's best jazz players are given space to improvise and experiment with this theme.

World Class

Showcasing musical fusion styles from around the world; Latin, afro, hip hop, flamenco, and some less well known genres. Speaking between countries with the common language of music.

Classic Jazz Club

A modern day traditional jazz club, offering international soloists the stage for consecutive days (with a Danish backing band.) Fine, classical jazz in modern surroundings.

GuestHouse

Nights hosted independently of Jazz House.

Copenhagen Jazz House has a very long and rich history and considers itself a direct descendent of the most famous and important jazz club in Denmark, the Jazzhus Montmartre that began in the sixties.

Concert tickets can be bought on the premises from 18:30 on days when a concert is happening. Once the concerts are wrapped up, the nightclub opens, playing jazz-themed music through the night. It is usually very busy between 23:00 and midnight so be prepared to queue to get in. Entrance is DKK 65.
